  1. I'm Joan, I really enjoyed last Saturday at the town hall.Dry needle felting is so relaxing and I have discovered you don't need to be an artist to do it. I can't draw or paint a landscape but give me a handful of sheep fleece and there's no stopping me. I get my inspiration from taking photos around the area or making very rough sketches on a scrap of paper. This hobby makes you really look at "nature" and see the amazing colours and textures all around us. Try looking at the "Pentlands" 5 days running or take pics if you can, each day they will look different. All that beauty is FREE

  2. thank you, Joan! Just saw this your comment here! You are so spot on: all this nature is free and we have such whole-making in front of our eyes. Now the hills are dusted with snow again, and the frost, like icing covered the lawn this morning. Fibres of nature, always the same and yet always unique. Was washing wool today, and yet again, and like always anew, marvelled at the fibres springing into existence from having been flattened when wet, and then drying where each tiny fibre creates its own field of multilayered radius, interlinking with the other fibres, and all together they create that bouncy breathing light bulk of fluff. A gift of nature that has warmed us for millenia and that today still never ceases to surprise with their wondrous ways of keeping warmth and air together, shelter us and give us light, too. There is light in your eyes when you needle away, Joan, at your ever more nuanced landscapes, each one delighting in itself as it is litterally alights on the page of your canvas of nature's gifts: fibres of nature arisng from fibres of nature. Luminous and laughing....
